     Fire is an essential skill for anyone who spends time in the wilderness.  It provides heat, light, cooked food, safe drinking water, a way to signal for help, and even protection from biting insects and other wildlife.  Join us for this two day class and be confident in your ability to build a fire when you really need one.    LIMIT 10 STUDENTS 

In this class you will learn:

-How to light a fire with one match and one stick

-Flint and steel and ferro rod

-Friction fire with bow drill and hand drill

-Finding flammable materials and accelerants 

-Fire in adverse conditions

-Reading and tending a fire

-Banking coals for the night

-Carrying coals to another location

-Cooking over a fire

Students will take home their own fire kit to continue practicing skills

Cost  $135

Meal Plan  $45

(Includes Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday breakfast and lunch) 

What to bring:

  • Tent and camping gear

  • Food (if not purchasing meals)

  • Water bottle (we will provide drinking water)

  • Clothing for damp or chilly conditions (we are in the mountains and weather can change quickly)
